Thanks Harper! Coming out the other side with such a great crew - definitely made all the turmoil worth it.

Great write up! Thanks for sharing some of the behind-the-scenes construction of RAID! I must've missed your last letter, so I'll have to go read that now. 😢 Yes, please add your process work to Kukuburi! (Or maybe a digital exclusive for KS backers? No extra production cost, but the content gets to your fav fans? 😊) I super want to travel to Heroes Con now!!! 😭 It'd be super cool to see the whole RAID crew! Anyway, have a great trip on the bike! Oh, and what app are you using to show Kukuburi Vol1? Did you just mock up the spreads in Photoshop? Or are you laying out in InDesign? Or are you using CSP? (If you're using CSP, do you have any print color problems?) Cheers!

Hey Ray!

The above screenshot is CSP which I'm using to layout the new sections of Kukuburi, and then pencil. I'm then printing the pencils out in blue line and inking traditionally to keep the line quality consistent with older / original pages. I then scan and colour in Photoshop.

I'm not a big fan of CSP's colour interface for print. I don't mind it for sketching and tooling around - but the fact that I can't colour in CMYK to control my black levels bothers me. If your printing from CSP pages might come out dark as CSP's native colour interface is in HSV which is just a variation on RGB. So all colours are imbued with black - which makes for muddy or dark printing IMHO.

I use the 1970s DC Comics CMYK colour palette a friend made for me decades ago - such a perfect starting point for pure colour.

Talk soon,

R
